Start with a plan
Some celebrities and events are only on certain days.
Check for updates regularly before you go. Sometimes there are last minute cancellations.
- Check the show schedule. (print/download copy)
- Look for:
- Panels - who, what, when, where
- Celebrity Q&A.
- What questions would you ask a celebrity if given a chance?
- Celebrity table availability.
- Sometimes they are at panels, photo ops, and taking a break.
- Photo Ops
- Get your picture taken. Sometimes these are group pictures, like multiple celebrities from the same movie.
- Sometime they are “In Costume”. Get your picture taken with the actor in costume, make up, and props?
- Entertainment
- Bands playing. Wresting matches. Competitions. Movie cars.
- Contests/Fests
- Cosplay voting and participation. Film showings
- Familiarize yourself with venue/show setup. Look for a map. (print/download copy)
- Make sure you know the location of the various places and bathrooms.
- Vendors
- There are many vendors and creators with things for sale. You can find collectible items and see some amazing talents.
- Tattoos
- This speaks for itself.
Autographs and Selfies
The costs associated with autographs and selfies vary depending on celebrity. Some charge separately for each.
- Celebrities sit at tables eager to meet their fans.
- Check the convention for any specific rules. Always remember to be respectful of everyone.
- You can bring items to be signed.
- Buy items from a vendor.
- Celebrity tables will have a variety of stills that you can have autographed. Sometimes it is hard to choice which one.
Well Being
Have fun, but take are of yourself.
- Take breaks throughout the day.
- You will be on your feet a lot.
- Stay hydrated.
- Take sanitizer and wash hands
- Wear good shoes.
- Lots of walking and standing in line
- Snacks
- Keep you energy levels up.
Others things to consider.
- Locker rentals
- Locker rentals. I highly recommend this. A great place to store your items instead of carrying them around.
- Pop - Up Lockers is one that I have used.
- If you have driven to the venue, cosider storing items in the car along with a cooler and snacks for breaks. <Make sure you understand show/venue rules for this and coming/going.>
- phone charger and batteries
- cash (cash is king)
- comb, brush or any freshening up supplies to have before a photo op
Remember to respect the celebrities and cosplay participants.
Be mindful, there will be children present.
